Liturgical / Hospitality

Altar Servers: Becoming an altar server is an opportunity open to boys, girls and adults to participate in a special way in the Mass and other sacred ceremonies.

Community Table: The Community Table Ministry provides a welcoming presence after the 9am Mass on Sundays between September through May. It’s an opportunity for parishioners to visit with friends and connect with new people over coffee, beverages and light refreshments.

Hospitality Ministry: The mission of the hospitality ministers is to greet warmly each person who comes to our liturgies. When people walk through our doors (for the first time or regulars) we never know what's happening in their lives and hearts. Perhaps they are in much pain, experiencing discouragement or fear or isolation, and God has led them to us to be touched by His hope and love and community. Hospitality ministers are the first contact they make. Whether they're handing guests a book, helping them find a seat, or orienting them to our community, these ministers are the channel of God's love for them, reminding them that they are not alone and that someone cares.

Lectors: Speaking the words of the Readings prayerfully adds a special dimension to liturgical participation. In this ministry, God unites the minister to the fellow members of the Body of Christ and forms all into one Body. "Though many, we are one body because we share the one bread and the one cup."

Legion of Mary: The Legion of Mary combines prayerful reflection and evangelization with personal visitation to the homebound.

Ministers of Communion: Ministers of Communion, reverently and humbly, assist Father Ray and Deacon Bob in the distribution of the Body and Blood of our Lord during the celebration of the Mass. Inthis ministry, God unites the minister to the fellow members of the Body of Christ and forms all into one Body. "Though many, we are one body because we share the one bread and the one cup."

Music Ministry: Our parish has two choir groups with two Music ministers. The Contemporary Choir Ensemble generally sings the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, and alternating Saturdays. The group includes a director, several vocalists, pianist, bass guitarist, trumpeter and sometimes drums and guitar. The music selections include Contemporary Christian, Folk, Traditional Hymns and original pieces. This music ministry is dedicated to enhancing the rich liturgical experience of the New Saint Monica Community and always welcomes new voices to the group.

Nursing Home Ministry: This ministry commutes to the Presbyterian Home on Thurston Road every Sunday for a 10: 30 am Communion Service for the residents. It is a very uplifting experience for the residents and members of this ministry.

Sacristans: The word Sacristan is derived from the Latin word holy (sancte, sanctus) and the Latin word sexton (church custodian). The Sacristan assists Father Ray and Deacon Bob by overseeing prayerfully the preparation for the celebration of the Mass and its completion afterwards.
