Lifelong Faith Formation – Education

Adult Faith Formation: This ministry formed from Parish survey results and parish meeting ideas. Individual programs have included topics such as "Clutter & Spirituality", "Finding the True Meaning of Christmas", "Sickness, Dying, Death and Grieving", "Understanding Deaf Culture", "Spirituality and the Workplace" and "Spirituality and Artistic Expression". The group has implemented the Bishop's Spirit Alive DVD retreat within our community. Tthe group is currently working to develop a Spirit Alive corner of the bulletin where they will offer monthly information on different styles/traditions of prayer (rotating Ignatian, Salesian and Franciscan). They plan to review the diocesan website to see what spiritual resources might be included in our parish bulletin, as spiritual enrichment for adults. They help to plan a schedule of monthly adult faith formation programs.

Children’s Liturgy: Children’s Liturgy of the Word gathers during the 9 am Mass giving children, ages 4-10 years old, a way to understand the Sunday readings. Teachers lead the lessons that provide a loving and faith-filled experience for our children.

Religious Education of Youth: Following the Sunday 9:00 Mass the youth receive religious education.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA): Prepares adults spiritually and educationally with a background in the Roman Catholic Faith tradition as the initial process towards full participation in the Sacraments. Meetings and training sessions are arranged with the mutual convenience of the RCIA candidate and the RCIA instructor. The training and preparation take place usually over a period of months. Instruction and programming for the Rite of Christian Initiation culminates at the Easter Vigil service on Holy Saturday.

Sacramental Preparation: Sacramental Preparation is available for adults and children to receive the sacraments: Baptism, First Penance, First Eucharist, Confirmation, and Marriage.

Spirit Alive!: This ministry carries out Bishop Matthew Clark's vision of renewal in the Rochester Diocese in Spring 2008, Bishop Clark invited the people of the Diocese of Rochester to participate in a specially designed 3 year program consisting of "Building a Personal Relationship with Jesus", The Scripture and the third on Discipleship and Stewardship. The parishioner-driven group meets First Wednesday of the month in the rectory following the 8:00 Mass and the recitation of the Rosary.

Teen Disciples: A supervised socializing opportunity for the parish teens that includes fun activities, exploring the Performing Arts and community service.

Vacation Bible School: Children enjoy an imaginative fun-filled romp at the close of summer (August) with games, music, performing arts, and food, all based on the Good News of Jesus.
